JoyfulMissionary story and who JoyfulMissionary's looking for

Jesus Christ is the most important person in my life and walking with Him is the greatest focus of everything that I do. I believe the Bible is the word of God and that we are called to bring heaven to earth now. I am a charismatic Christian who believes and personally walks in healing, prophecy, and evangelism. I believe being spiritual is never an excuse to be weird, have low relational skills, or an inability to provide for oneself. If you can say the same for yourself on all of the above areas, please continue reading and, after you’ve read my entire profile, feel free to contact me with a message of some substance (I will not respond to a “hello” or “smile” and don’t want to waste your time).

I was born and raised in Minnesota (where I still live) and have two older brothers (who are 8 and 11 years older than I am). My oldest brother is married and lives in California with a couple amazing teenage boys who I love hiking and playing Settlers of Catan with when I see them once or twice a year. I’ve learned not to mountain bike with them as I usually end up flying over the handle bars. . . I’m close to my parents who live in a neighboring city and are in their 70’s and 80’s. We’ve gotten closer since I took six months off work this last year to help them through some health issues.

I’ve always been a bit of an intense person with a huge heart for the world and an innate love for other cultures and travel. As a kid my favorite songs were Toto’s “Africa,” “it’s a small world after all,” and the theme song from Beverly Hills Cop, Axel F. My dream as a child was to grow up, get rid of most everything I owned, and go live with people from a different culture, halfway around the world. In my childhood games I was either a secret agent, Native American warrior princess, orphanage director, or some type of street kid/child soldier rehabilitator. My parents met in missionary training school and my aunts and uncles all traveled the world when I was a kid so, although I grew up in a sheltered suburb, the concept of a world much larger than myself was somehow in my blood.

I became a born again Christian at age 13 and went on my first mission trip to Trinidad when I was 14. I went to college at 17 and was so interested in other cultures that I studied cross-cultural missions and third world studies at Bethel University in St. Paul, MN. During college I lived in Guatemala for a semester and studied their civil war. Later on I spent another three years at Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry in Redding, CA where I interned in the prophetic arts and spent a summer at Heidi Baker’s Iris Harvest School of Missions in Mozambique. After graduation Iris sent me on a mission trip with a team of 1 (me!) to the Philippines. Someone picked me up at the airport and put me on a bus that went up a mountain . . . it all worked out great and, 12 years later, I’ve been back to that country many more times having helped plant a few churches and been adopted into a couple tribes.

I’ve worked at a number of churches in youth and children’s ministry, small groups, the arts, helped run ministry schools, and have alway been a part of setting up and helping run missions departments. I currently run a non profit I founded that organizes and takes people on international short-term mission trips and does equipping schools for Christians around the world. I’ve written a total of 9 books including a series that teaches people Biblical concepts they can learn and “activate” in just a few minutes, for any culture in the world, ages 10 and up. These books are being translated into their 8th language and are being used with refugees, in garbage dumps, with business executives, pre-schoolers, and in professional counseling offices. I travel the world teaching this material sometimes in churches and sometimes in public schools. I also help put on and preach at city-wide miracle crusades in third world nations. I’ve had the joy of traveling to about 20 nations so far and am especially fond of the Philippines, Brazil, India, and Northern Ireland.

I love people but am very particular about my close friends and count true relationships as the 2nd most important thing in my life, after my faith. I value quality time and quality conversation. In my free time I enjoy hanging out with my friends, being outdoors, trying new foods, or watching online shows like the young Sheldon, documentaries, some anime (The Mysterious Cities of Gold), the old MacGyver, or Star Trek Next Generation.

I love eating new foods, especially Asian food and sea food. The more unique or unusual, the better! I love adventure but am not necessarily a thrill seeker. My version of adventure is hiking in the Himalayas, ministering with unknown tribes in jungles (I love anything to do with jungles or rainforests), going river kayaking, or riding on top of a jeep in out of the way places. I also really love music and singing, especially singing spontaneous prophetic songs.

I’m looking for someone who loves Jesus more than anyone or anything else and who wants to have a home base in the US (hopefully MN) and travel the world doing short-term missions/ministry together. I sincerely believe that the Kingdom of God can transform not only individuals but entire societies. I would like to give my life to see the transformation of society so that people can experience heaven on earth in every area of their normal, everyday lives. I’d like to have a family as well and have fun changing the world together.
